Anyone here use inline skating as summer training for the slopes? It would seem alot of the same general techniques would apply between the two as far as spins and rails.
Well I started out with ice skating first of all, and then hit up the inlines when the local ice rink shut for good. Then we had an artificial snow slope built in our town (an indoors one) and a friend got me interesting in skiing.
Finally I moved to PA and had access to a real slope, however I still occasionally inline in the summer. The footpaths are really bad around here, and the roads potholed, so it's difficult to do so safely.
Is it that similar? I'm a novice skier so anything that would help me practice and improve my technique would be worth a try. My first time ever on snow skis was last winter and only a couple of times at that. Only have skied a couple times this winter so far, too. I'd like to get into it more since I have had a blast learning.
I have used them before but not for that reason, I just wanted to try the new stuff years back. I didnt like them, I guess that means I am old school. I do see how it could help for practice, but their just not for me.
My bro has a pair of the Streetski Freeride inline skates and he swears by them. Totally improves his technique for snow season and kept his muscles conditioned.
Any idea where these could be purchased online? Most stores in my area are so-so type places and I don't think I can get anything that is top notch from a place in the boonies. I am always willing to give a new one a chance, but I don't think it works for me that much maybe new ones will be different since I have not done this in so long.

Is this training for skiing? I've done both inline skating and skiing, though I was never really doing any tricks for skiing... I think at least inline skating is excellent for improving ankle strength which is incredibly important if you are doing any kind of skiing or boarding.
