The Next Level

This is my fifth season boarding so I can make it down the slopes fine and have improved on my speed but I am ready to take it to the next level. I freak when it comes to riding a rail for the first time. YES, the female whimpy crap is coming out in me.

I thought about having a few drinks first to build up some liquid courage. Do other boarders get offended if a female comes up to them to ask if they could watch me and give me pointers on riding a rail for the first time?

ride with someone else who is more experienced, or even shell out some cash for a lesson. to be honest, i generally would not want to have to critique someone else's riding unless they were a friend.

i also don't recommend trying new things when riding while under the influence.

I get nervous on rails too. It's gotta look just right or I won't try it.

Start out doing 50-50s on big wide boxes. Don't think about it too much, just look at be beginning, hop up onto it, look at the end, ride there, hop off and ride away.

Here is an example of how to do it. Nice and easy. If I can do it, you can too.

Stay away from the booze until after you have done it. Consider it a reward.
On this day, no booze was consumed until after filming.

Have fun!

If the skiier is professional/mature and if you approach them the right way then most would be happy to help out. Try getting an instructor to ski with you so that you have help if you need it

Thanks for the video and the tip on starting with the 50-50s. It does not look like I can hurt myself too bad on the wide boxes. I'm headed up this weekend so I'll let you know how it goes.

I normally keep the booze on hold until afterwards. Perfect ending to a great snow day.
