OK...I'm behind schedule.

6 days total. 5 at the Basin and 1 at the Bird. Basin has been in great shape after a slow start. They are barely 50% open and no gates yet. When they finally get the avy danger under control and open the gates, it's going to be freaking epic yet again.

I'll try to get some pics soon as well. I'm so fired.

The first time I snowboarded was in the rain... in Wisconsin. Come a LONG way since then!

Day 14 was yesterday at Grand Targhee - with an unreal amount of balls deep powder. Got stuck in a gully below the lift once 'cuz I wasn't smart enough to bank a hard right and traverse out of the ridiculous tree run we were riding.

Day 15 was today: Jackson Hole. Holy Jeebus there was even more snow up here, it won't stop nuking. An inbound slide killed someone yesterday so we're pretty spooked and stayed off the upper mountain stuff, but we had no shortage of sweet, nipple-deep pow runs through the trees.

Tomorrow: backcountry snowmobiling!

Well, the trip ended up not being as "backcountry" as we hoped, a lot of it due to the avy danger and unstable snowpack around these parts. Mostly groomed trails and whatnot, but we did hit about 80mph on the way back, and we got to play is a really safe powder field for a while. Snowmobiling is hard work!

Today marks day 16, Snow King Mountain. Crusty, heavy, windblown snow up top and bulletproof GLARE ice on the bottom half. Gnarly!

There was another inbounds slide at JH yesterday, triggered by a separate controlled slide that ski patrol set off. No one was hurt but they had to dig a couple-few patrollers out, and the restaurant at the top of the gondola is gonna need new windows! None of the upper mountain was open all day, and they were only running a couple of the lower lifts as well so we skipped it and hit Snow King like I says above. Needless to say, we're all pretty spooked about the whole deal, but I think we're heading back to JH tomorrow and just keeping it REALLY MELLOW.

23 days....unless of course you don't include "daydream" days. In that case - 1 day. Hopefully I'll get to pick up a new board and ride Sunday.
