| Jacket info I have been buying Arc' teryx and mountain hard wear gear for some time now and want to know to if any brands are beater then them. I am looking for a new all mountain Jacket. I am going to use it for when I go Snowboarding and any thing that live can dish out at me. So I need it for weather 0 to 30ish. So I would love to hear what you all use.

| I like Helly Hansen stuff. Mostly cause it's cheaper than the two brands you mentioned and just as good.

| Just picked up a Burton Field Jacket on clearance. *Hangs head in shame*...it's last years colour (black) but at 50% off it was a steal.
I like the fact that it isn't too padded so with sensible layering undernneath it will work for a multitude of conditions.
However, nice as it is I wouldn't have considered it at full retail. |

| I always pick up last year's gear when I buy. Full retail is just plain scary.
I am running the Burton Ronin ALS Hooded Jacket. It's just a shell, so I provide my own insulation when necessary.
Oh, I almost forgot, it is in a SS approved color. |

| i'm a big fan of the latest offerings from the burton ak line. quality construction with a slightly baggier fit than most arc'teryx stuff. i like the technologies put into the arc'teryx gear, but i am not a huge fan of the slim, athletic cut that most of them have. |

| I like Burton's Ronin line - get with the Rogram! I usually get a puffy every year, a ronin ALS jacket, The Ronin 2L pant, and throw down for jacket/pant combo in the Analog line. Aint nothing but AG thing |

Do they wear out that quickly?
My down jacket is now almost 15 years old: |

My down jacket is now almost 15 years old: | That is what happens when people actually use their gear on the snow.
I find that I wear my pants out every other year and I get a new jacket at that time. I usually don't need one, I just do it because I am a gear fashion slut and want my stuff to match.
Typically, skiers have much less contact with the snow and their stuff lasts longer as a result. Also, snowboarders tend to go more frequently than skiers. For example, I have been on the slopes twice this season which is an infinite number of times more than you have been |

| That's weird, but you're weird, so I guess it makes sense. Quote:

So you'd better GET AFTER IT!! |

| Wow buying new gear every year? Even if I had the money to blow I wouldn't do that. An gear wearing out every year? I'm on my 3rd year in some cheap Scott gear that I bought and they still look great. I wear the Jacket a ton off the hill in the winter too. |
