Socks

Has anyone found a great pair of snowboarding socks? The two brands I have tried are Fox River and the Burton Buffer. Both were decent but I feel like my feet are roasting by the end of the day. Looking for something more lightweight but still keeps you evenly warm?

I actually use a pair of polypropylene horseback riding socks. I couldn't tell you what brand of the top of my head but there's only normally a couple of choices. They aren't super warm or too thin, and since they come up to your knees you normally don't have to worry about snow getting in.

I don't know the smart wool brand, but always and only wear wool socks for it. The first ones I wore were UK army surplus. They stop blisters, absorb sweat and don't cause my feet to overheat. They were perfect.

I always try and go with a very thin silk sock. I would go barefoot if it would not just destroy the boot liner.

Fox River has worked fine for me personally, but maybe try something like Wigwams? They aren't designed specifically for something like sports, but they are pretty lightweight and comfortable.

I haven't tried too many other brands of socks though, but this is about the best advice I can offer you.

Sorry, but I wish you luck

This is what I was tempted to do. I hate wearing socks anyway and my feet tend to get really hot. My boyfriend insisted I wear these really heavy socks, though, and I about died. Is it really silk that the socks are made of or are they those really thin, silky, dress-type sock?

I don't think I could do the whole barefoot thing. I am going to try a pair of wigwams next season. I found some discounted at a proshop this weekend.

It's really silk-spun silk that they are made out of. Depending on where you buy them from you can pick them up for about $10 a pair and they too are great for blister prevention. Silk is fantastic too for wound healing, so these really might be great for skiing-I've just never tried them.

Yeah... for pure comfort and durability, Wigwams are by far the best that I have used. They are just heavy and warm enough to be suitable for the ski resorts without being too heavy as to be uncomfortable.

Let me know what you think after you get them, since they are good!
