Gunstock This Weekend

We're heading out to Gunstock this weekend for some riding. I love being able to win lift tickets on the radio Makes it so much easier to justify sneaking away and putting off errands. Its not the best but its close. And this weekend, its free.

Gunstock is a resort in Gilford, NH that is open year round...but you would have to imagine its some type of ski/snowboard place since I posted it here, eh?

They had a leap year discount this weekend, buy one at regular price get the second for $29. Very sweet for a ticket. Especially since its a close drive so a couple friends came with us. Should be perfect tomorrow as well.

Nuts

Wish I'd seen this post before now. Gilford is within an hour for me and I had the weekend off. Would have gone if I'd known about the special deal. Do you know if they have an email list or website so I could check ahead next time?

*points to post above*
website is there, it was listed on the front page along with two free tickets for VW owners last weekend. Show up with your VW and a friend and you got free lift tickets courtesy of VWNH.com. I tried to see if its yearly (I own a Passat) but the VW site only had the same info. They have an e-cub you can sign up for and the events are listed pretty far in advance. Also good to note is season passes just went on sale the beginning of March.

So, how did the Gunstock trip turn out anyway? Did you have a fun time there?

This is the VERY first time I heard about Gunstock, but I would love to hear some reviews from people who have been to it.

Any additional details would be highly appreciated by myself, and that site doesn't seem to answer all my questions

Thanks in advance.

Gunstock is the place we go most often based on it being the closest. I can't say we've ever had a bad trip so long as there was snow on the ground and I've even been to a couple company outings there as were that were fabulous. Not sure what "details" you're looking for that aren't on the website, but I'll try to give them to you if I can.

Maybe camping

Didn't even notice the link in your previous post. Thanks for pointing that out without saying "what's the matter for you?"

It doesn't look like I'll make it to Gunstock for ski season but I'm really going to keep the area in mind for camping and fishing later this year. It is close to home so that is rather convenient. I like that the resort is open year round to all sorts of recreational activities.

I thought it interesting that Gunstock was the first New England ski resort to have a chair lift, as a side note to any other amateur historians.

I find alot of the successful resorts are open year round these days. You just can't survive on the ski season alone and with all that space for events such as company pick nicks, weddings, and reunions it has kept them open year round. One of them I looked at even has on site wedding planners/coordinators and caterers.

Yes, but not all have anything attractive off-season

There are lots of places to ski in the White Mountains regions but some are more attractive than others during the off-season. Gunstock is close to some excellent camping and fishing spots which is what I enjoy during the summer. Other resorts are good for hikers but not fishermen, you know what I mean? Definitely not into hiking for the sake of hiking, but find me a good fishing hole and I'm there, man!
