thoughts? | Accept both and hire a look alike for one of the jobs. Switch back and forth between both locations. |

thoughts? | I haven't been to Mammoth, but I hear it is legendary.
I have been to Park City, and it was good, but not great.
If you had said Snowbird or Brighton, I would say UT, but you said Park City, so I'm gonna say do Mammoth!
Maybe I'll come out for a visit this year |

| My husband got offered the following offices when we were back in Connecticut: Park City, Tahoe, Vail, and Asheville, NC.
We narrowed it down to Park City and Tahoe.
Then we watched SLC Punk one last time.... and decided on Tahoe.
Are you thinking long term move or short term? |

| It would depend on motives for me. If you are trying to make money, I would pick the place that pays the most with the lowest cost of living. The money thing aside...I would pick Park City. If you go to Mammoth, You are kind of stick with Mammoth. If you go Park City, you have a lot of options for days off: the 'Bird, Alta, Snowbasin.... And most of those areas have deals going with other mountains for employees.

In the park city valley it is pretty easy to get to the canyons and deer valley (which doesn't allow boarders). To get to the big and little cottonwoods it was at least a 1hr drive from park city. So if you board and all you have is bus fare it really only gives 2 choices.
When we were in Tahoe last year, we met some guys in Truckee who worked at Northstar. We went back to their employee housing for some "recreational" activties, and man was it carppy. None of them had any money or cars. One of them asked us if we could take him to Squaw the next day because he had no ride to anywhere except N* on his day off. Of course he was too wasted to actually call us the next AM.
All I'm saying is that resort employees aren't gonna have a lot of $$$ to enjoy the finer things that UT has to offer... who knows though. Maybe 5.4 speedstere is independently wealthy. |

Maybe 5.4 speedstere is independently wealthy. | I'm in no way wealthy, and I have found a way to buy a house and live in Tahoe. Had to make sacrifices for sure (I commute to Carson City, cut back on my bike purchase, drive an old crappy car, etc...)
But the average person in any resort town can make more than a N* (or any other mountain) resort employee. A resort employee a) makes minimum wage and b) gets no hours because they usually don't really want that many hours.
5.4 speedstere didn't say he was going to be a resort employee just that he got offered a job in those 2 locations. Maybe he got offered a super swanky job? Maybe? |

My husband does resort design. Makes O.K. money. But we are not rolling in it... maybe more than my friend who lives in a tent.
I work in Carson and there are plenty of cat houses down this way. Sketchy sketchy. These are not ladies with all their teeth. I don't think they make alot of money, or they would at least go to the dentist. |

| If I ended up taking a job in Park City, I would try to make it work so I lived in SLC. That way any of the ski areas are just a bus ride away, including my employment.
Taking a job in any resort area is risky business and most are not in it for the money. You can either be bored on your days off, or you can get creative and find ways to do stuff. I was a liftie at our local area about 10 years ago. Didn't make $hit for money. But figured out how to have a lot of fun!! Carpooled with other employees. Had a deal with the owner of the lodge/restaurant/bar in the Condo area...for every load of wood I hauled down 3 floors (no elevator) and split for the fireplace in the bar, he would hook me up with a pitcher of beer. After the lifts shut down, I would head over there, and bust my ass moving 3 or 4 loads. Then shared with my friends who in turn hooked me up when it was time for jager shots. Our mountain was closed Mon-Tues but we could ski free at other areas, which was only possible if a group of us got together.
Then there is always the possibility that 5.4 Speedstere has been offered some sort of executive position that comes with good salary, benefits, housing and company vehicle. Which, IMO, would not be as much fun as what I did!
