There is definitely skiing in South America. Las Lenas in Argentina has some of the most epic lift accessed terrain anywhere. Add to that some of the stuff you can hit within a 2-3 hour skin and the amount of terrain down there is incredible. All the hidden stuff down and to the left in this picture is skiable.

In fact, if anybody is interested, here are some random pics my friend and I took while we were down there this summer (their winter). Most of them are at Las Lenas, but a few are from a small area called Caviahue.
