These tours are combined with specialized English speaking guides, full board, transportation, ski lifts, lodging and hot springs. amazing dinners and Chilean hospitality.

SKI THE MAGNIFICENT FIVE ACTIVE VOLCANOES IN CHILE -
8 DAYS / 7 NIGHTS

1. - ITINERARY

DAY 01: TEMUCO – HUILO HUILO, CHILE
Upon arriving to Santiago’s International Airport, passenger will have to take the connection flight to Temuco (1 hour flight).
Welcome to the Southern Volcanoes! Reception at Temuco’s airport and then transfer to Huilo – Huilo. After three hours we’ll arrive to Puerto Fuy and the protected wild area of Huilo – Huilo. Upon our arrival, there will be outdoor hot-tubs carved into tree trunks ready for us to sink into and relax. Here we’ll check in at the hotel Montaña Magica Lodge, where we’ll enjoy dinner and lodging.

DAY 02: HUILO HUILO – MOCHO & CHOSHUENCO VOLCANOES
Today we’ll experience the fantastic adventure of climbing two volcanoes in one day. After an early morning breakfast we’ll take a Unimog truck and go off-road through the native forest until we reach the snow. There, a Pisten Bully will be waiting to take us for an hour-long ride to a plateau at the skirts of both volcanoes. There aren’t any ski lifts, so skinning and hiking are the only ways to reach the top of both volcanoes, Mocho (2.422 meters / 7.946 feet) and Choshuenco (2.415 meters / 7.923 feet). The views are absolutely amazing, overlooking the Lanín and Villarrica volcanoes. We’ll be back to Huilo Huilo around 6 p.m. and then immediately drive to Pucón. Dinner and lodging at Hotel Aracaurias or similar

DAY 03: PUCON – VILLARRICA VOLCANO
Early in the morning (7 am) we will go to Pucón Ski Center, If the weather permits, today we’ll have the chance to hike up the Villarrica volcano (2.847 meters / 9.340 feet) and reach its active crater, and then ski off-piste all the way down (only if you have an advanced level of skiing). We will always be accompanied by our specialized guides. The ascent lasts approximately 6 hours and only 30 minutes to ski down. The center has 9 ski-lifts (5 draglifts and 3 chairlifts), and 20 runs to choose from. The views from the slopes overlooking Lake Villarrica and the surrounding volcanoes are fabulous. At the base of the resort there is a lively cafeteria, and a nice terrace to relax and enjoy your meal (not included). Return to Pucón and dinner in Villarrica (Mesa del Mar Restaurant); lodging at Hotel Aracaurias or similar

DAY 04: PUCON SKI CENTER – HUIFE HOT SPRINGS
Today we can choose if we go skiing again to Pucón Ski Center; try our second attempt to get to the crater if we couldn’t make it the day before; or do some other activities such as rafting in Trancura River or visit Pucón and its surrounding areas. We’ll have dinner in a local restaurant in Pucón and then accommodation at the hotel of your choice.

Optional tour (additional cost of 15 USD): In the afternoon we’ll go to Huife Hot Springs, a thermal center located by the Liucura River and surrounded by stunning native forests. We’ll have dinner at Huife’s restaurant and then head back to Pucón. Lodging at Hotel Las Araucarias. www.termashuife.cl

DAY 05: PUCÓN – LAS ARAUCARIAS SKI CENTER, LLAIMA VOLCANO
After breakfast we leave Pucón and head to the Llaima Volcano. At about noon we’ll be arriving at the Araucarias Ski Center, where we’ll have lunch. Later, we’ll get ready for skiing (and use the snow-cats right before the sunset). This quaint and uncrowded ski center surrounded by araucaria forests has two draglifts and one double chairlift. There are nine runs available to choose from according to your skiing level. Like most of the southern ski centers, you’ll be astonished by the view to other volcanoes, in this case Lonquimay and Villarrica. Dinner and accommodation at the Ski Center lodge called Refugio Pehuén.
This mountain lodge only has four large dorm style rooms available with bunk-beds and separate toilets for men and women. www.skiaraucarias.cl

Today we’ll try to attempt the summit of the most active volcano in Chile, the Llaima (3.125 meters / 10.253 feet). If the weather permits and assisted by snow-cats, we’ll reach as close as possible to the top, and then start a challenging hike to the crater (three hours). In the afternoon we’ll begin the off-piste descent back to the lodge. Then we’ll head toward Curacautín and arrive at the little village of Malalcahuello after 3 hours. We’ll check in at the hotel Termas de Manzanar where you’ll stay overnight and dinner.

DAY 07: MALALCAHUELLO – CORRALCO, LONQUMAY VOLCANO

Corralco offers 500 acres (200 hectares) of uncrowded ski runs for all levels of ski and snowboard lovers. This mountain resort has one draglift for the beginner runs and one double chairlift for medium and advanced skiers, more than enough to enjoy this beautiful terrain. From the end of the chairlift we’ll begin the tough hike to the top (4 hours). Upon reaching the top we’ll take in the magnificent view and then begin skiing off-piste to the bottom of the slopes. This activity is strictly reserved for those people in strong physical condition and an advanced level of skiing. Later, we’ll share a typical dinner at a local family house and stay overnight at the hotel Termas de Manzanar or similar.
