Gear queston

I have done some easy fire road stuff on Tour ski's and I am considering getting my own equipment. Should I get tour ski's or Tele ski's I know you can put skins on tele's but can you still get a good glide on them if you are just kicking around. Also what are the limits of tour ski's since they don't have metal edges. My number one concern is I don't want heavy uncomfortable cumbersome equipment. I realy like how tour boots are like shoes. I How ever don't wanna get stuck coming down a ridge or trail out of controll.

I know I can't have the best of both worlds I just wanna spend my money wisely.

Depends on what you want to do. If you are just gonna do some XC on roads and not very steep areas just stick with some plain old XC skis. But if you want to use them to get to steep terrain to ski down then get some tele skis and skins or get some normal skis with dual purpose downhill/touring bindings and skins.

Sounds to me like you are looking for touring equipment. And you can get tour skis with metal edges. I would look into brands like Black Diamond, TUA, Dynamic/Life Link...they all make pretty much what you are looking for. The best of both worlds is possible; and a hell of alot of fun!
