littleg stole the words out from under my fingers! While I much prefer to let gravity do the work, I have patrolled the last three years at a Nordic Center (where XC skiers go and not tele skiers, whoops, that's a whole nother thread!!!). Definitely start with the snow plow just like in downhill. But without the metal edges, you really need to keep your speed down so you don't lose it. You will also want to keep your boot flat on the ski. Most modern boot/binding set ups are made so the binding has a "rail" that a "groove" on the bottom of the boot will ride on, therefore increasing your stability. if you are on older gear, well then.....GET SOME NEW STUFF!!!! XC gear is way cheaper than everything else!!
