come on man those thins are old striaght. They're basically worthless compared to shaped skis.
I could be wrong, but I thought that he was just joking.
The funny thing is, old straight skis do have a similar sidecut to downhill skis, but those in question were considered slalom skis. Even though they have the same sidecut as the DH skis, there is no way that they could handle turning at DH speeds.
