Here is a shot of my buddy Rick under a rock ledge on that same run.

Andy and I both got stuck a bit on that run. It sure is tough getting back upright and moving again in bottomless pow. He was hyperventilating and overheated by the time we got to the bottom, so I resolved that he and I would split off from the group and stick to some more heavily traveled areas.

It would have been nice to have stayed with the group, but regardless, Andy and I had a blast spending most of the day on the on the Hidden Lake lift, we got fresh tracks all day long and only got hung up in the pow once or twice.

That evening I moved my bindings back about an inch for better float. It helped a lot.

We met in the bar at the end of the day and bought Joe (the guy in the black jacket and glasses) a beer. Andy and I heard about how they made it all the way out to Sanctuary and how they used the leapfrog technique to break new trail through the deep stuff.

Joe suggested we try Harley and Bucks for dinner. It was a great place. It was a little off the beaten path in Eden, and so following his directions we went down what looked like a dead end road, but then it opened up and we saw the place. It looked like an old western saloon and we could smell BBQey goodness rising out of the smoker behind the building. The ribs were awesome. The beef brisket was good too. It was so much better than the carp we had at Chili's the day before. It was clearly the best day of the trip so far.

Oh, it was good indeed. You know how I hate to rub it in , but I haven't gotten to the best part yet. There is more to come.

Tahoe can be lots of fun in conditions like that. Sometimes when there in those conditions you can find thick mashed potatoey snow which can be fun (well, at least on a board it is). Oh, and then there are the bikinis and other good stuff too. Plus weather in Tahoe is unpredictable... you never know, there could be a dumping in your future. I managed to score one in late March in one of Tahoe's worst seasons ever. Damn, there I go, rubbing it in again.

Ok, back on with the report. There was only a couple inches of fresh overnight, so we were not so aggressive in getting back to Powder Mountain early on Wednesday.

Andy decided to take the day off and no amount of peer pressure would get him to come with. That is too bad, because this turned out to be one of the best days yet.

See, even though only a couple inches fell, it was rather windy, and the snow was dry and fluffy, so we found the conditions to be rather fresh when we got there.
