SIA Show Vegas TR

Ok I FINALLY have some freakin time to do this. I've been so busy lately it's rediculous.

Day 1

Ok for those of you that don't know SIA is a big snowsports conference where all the snow companies get together to show off all the new stuff for next year to their vendors. I got to go with my friends who own a snowboard/dirtbike shop here in Farmington. We went about two weeks ago leaving early on Sunday morning and getting there Sunday evening. First thing on the plate after checking into our room at the Excalibur was head for the Fashion Show. Wow did I feel out of place there. BUT it actually turned out to be very cool getting to see a lot of the new gear. Plus there was tons of free food and open bars. We proceded to get completely sloshed. Before the show they had music and girls dancing up above one of the bars in typical vegas fashion lol. After the show we headed back to the hotel did a little gambling and crashed out for the night.

Day 2

Next morning we headed over to the actual show and while my friends were busy talking to all the various venders I was out cruising the booths looking at all the cool stuff I could find. There were hundreds of booths there and between the two days I was there I think I made it to every single one of them. I also got to talk to the guys at High Society about the skis I had problems with. They said they had a batch that the glue didn't bond well on and mine must have been from that batch. But for my trouble they are hooking me up with a pair of their FreeRide skis for no extra cost which normally retail for $100 dollars more than The Classic's that I had before. Those skis should hopefully be in today. Towards the end of the day free alcohol started flowing out of a bunch more of the vendors booths so we figured we should partake lol. We found ourselves at the Hot Chili's booth where they were handing out these little straps with a rubber thing on them. We soon found out that those straps were for all the free Coronas they were handing out. You hung the strap around your neck and popped the bottle up through the rubber piece and !voila! instant beer holder . There were also huge buckets of free shrimp and chips and salsa. We stuffed ourselves full of shrimp and corona! After that we headed over to where they were tapping some kegs and they had a free concert with Lyrics Born playing. He put on a great show! After this we headed back to the hotel for a bit of rest and then we headed out to the clubs for the night. Soon after getting in line we were kicked out because we were wearing sneakers! It was bullsh!t! So we gave the bouncer the finger because he was being a dick about it and headed over to Coyote Ugly which was actually a lot of fun. We then moved on down the strip stopping through a bunch of bars that would let us in. After which we could barely walk so we decided it would be prudent to take a cab back to the hotel lol.

Day 3

Waking up was not fun. Hangovers suck. We headed back to the show and for a little while I cruised the booths. During which time I had the highlight of the trip. Coming towards me was a huge green mohawk! It was Glen Plake! He actually stopped and talked to me for about 5 minutes, took time to sign my hat, and take a picture with me. He was a really great guy and really seemed down to earth. The rest of the morning I spent with my friends going and talking to the vendors about products. After this we headed back to the hotel checked out did a little more gambling and then headed home. Altogether it was a great trip. My buddy and I should be in a lot of photos from random people. We jumped into a bunch of them. I actually only ended up spending about $75 dollars total the whole trip counting gas and everything, because of what I made at the Blackjack tables.

There was a rail jam the night we left but we couldn't stay for it. What kind of skiing do you think there was...? It was Vegas and they aren't exactly known for their snow there.

Lib Tech. Sidecut on acid...? Having a squiggly down the side of the ski doesn't really inspire me with confidence. I couldn't really get any of these guys to talk to me about why they would do that.

Icelantic Skis. These seemed like some really nice skis from a local Colorado company that had some really nice reps at the show.
