because i want to discus tele skis. i don't ski. never have. but am thinking of trying to find some tele skis for touring and some downhill.

any thoughts? the board on the back thing is tiring. and really not sure if i want a splitboard.

Tele will be more work than alpine. Have you considered AT skis? Just another option....

Since you've never skied before you're going to probably want to devote a bunch of resort time to whatever you decided to do so that you get competent at it. Don't try to learn to ski in the BC.

i guess one thing i'm curious about is boot comfort. i hear tele boots are the most comfortable ski boots. i really like how cozy my snowboard boots are.

i'm looking for something that will allow me to do some touring in the bc. but be more fun and stable than xc skis.

Yeah - not sure how they stack up since I've never tele'd or snowboarded. But my AT boots were the only ones on a hut trip a few years back that *didn't* result in gnarly, blistered feet amongst 4 guys who went - the other 3 were tele. Of course, maybe their boots just fit like $hit.

sorry if i'm being dumb... but are those liners you replace your existing liners w/?

the thing that stresses me out w/ skis is that they are so darn expensive. but since i don't need anything fancy... i'm hoping to find a sweet deal on some very used stuff.

Yep - although a number of tele & AT boots now come with heat-form liners IIRC. So you don't need to replace the stock liners.

And I suppose you don't really need to replace the stock liners if they're comfy.

Yeah - you shouldn't have to worry too much. Especially seeing as where you live. Used stuff should be easy to come by. I've never paid more than $200 for skis+bindings.

i'm partially thinking i should have just purchases skis instead of a new board. oh well.....

i was excited because i just realized that the Feb. issue of ski magazine says on the cover, "gear up for alpine touring".
it was a one page article. absolutely worthless mag.

i guess i'll wait till this spring when everyone is selling of their stuff. and find something then.
