TR: 3/28/07 H20 house dusk patrol

Place: H20 house
Conditions: pow pow
Time: we left the trail head at 5:30 and were able to do the trip (minus the bottom hike) in 2 hours.

The hike up wasn't so bad. but we were already thinking of beers afterwards. juliana requesting her tallac pale ale

the track up was pretty steap. seemed easier w/ snowshoes than skinning it up

up at the top the sun started casting these amazing shadows. so pretty. up at the top is when i decided i could never not live in the mountains.

now follow me through these trees..... what, you think we're heading too far left???

juliana and eric keeping close together

benjaminj having fun on his new JJ Rossi board

smiles all around

and we made it down just as the sun was setting. phew..... but wait a second. how did we end all the way to the left down here? DOH! We screwed that up. Taking a different line at the bottom left us a half hour hike from where we needed to be. It's getting dark... we're all getting hungry. Last time we take that line down.

We get down to the car in absolute darkness. We load up the car and head out to divided sky for treats and pitchers of tallac pale ale. not sure if the beer is always that delicious...or it was the fact that we had all been looking forward to it over the last couple of hours, but it was damn tasty.

Since while we suited up, we bopped around to the sounds of swollen members, I'll finish this off w/ the lyrics to "Watch This"
Prevail Prevail baseball bat and nails
I’m a menace to society, my records for sale
Were back, back in black I’m back at it
Attack were taking it back like dead rabbits
Wreck havoc me and the metal metallic magic
My talents a canister of sinister gasses
Storm like a fatuous this is my advantage
My tongues like a whip to administer lashes
Molten ashes, fire and brimstone
You need to hire me to put a name on a tomb stone

next time we'll have to leave just a little bit early so we have time to enjoy a beer at the top. it is so very pretty up there.

i feel really lucky to be a short drive from somewhere so special.

i hope we get some weekday snow again soon so i can repeat our adventure before all the snow melts.

Happy hour on the Powder House!!! I like that, sounds much better than Dusk Patrol.
I think we should have went out last night too, I'm sure it's still holding some good snow towards the top.

i agree. should have done powder house 2 days in a row. it hold its snow better than anywhere else around. with both today and tomorrow being in the high 50s... I think the snow will be toast by this weekend. i think one of these days we should do a night ride. we'd have to stick together though.

Doug - S.Members played here super bowl sunday. here it was a really good show. i had a bad bike wreck that day and ended up going to bed early.
