TR: Cascade 2-17-2007

On Saturday My son Trip, My mom and Neil headed up to Cascade. Apparently everyone else in Chicagoland went too, because it was super crowded.

It constantly amazes me, because nobody goes skiing unless there is snow on the ground in Chicago. We got about a foot in the last week, so people were out in droves. Guess how much fresh Cascade got... about 2 inches. Anyhow, enough rant.

We got there right at the opening, so it wasn't too bad at the beginning. Trip improved his abilities on the slide, as you can see in this video. The first time he did it though, he came flying right into me and had his first yard sale. You can see where my knee dented his helmet in this picture:

After that we went into the big terrain park where I said he could do the first (about 3 foot) jump. He did awesome on that, but then he went off the next jump (about 6 feet) and had a problem. Hehehe. Fun anyhow.

We even rode some of the black runs near the end of the day. They were pretty blue by most people's standards, but impressive enough for a 4 year old.

On the way home we hit the Shakey's pizza buffet in Janesville, and ate until they had to roll us out the door. The kid even got a balloon.

Nice write-up Rick. You continually amaze me with great reports out of the midwest mountains.

I think Trip is a better rider than you.

The kid looks great I'll bet you're proud. How's your knee feel after it impacted the helmet?

knee is ok. he crashed into my knee, but maybe the dent is from something else, like maybe my ski boot or something.

because you are right... my knee should hurt bad if it was really responsible for that dent.
