So we abandoned the family on Saturday to hit up Winter Park. I met up with my buddy Bill in the a.m. and some guys who work for one of the hw vendors we deal with and we skied a $hitload of bumps between 09:00-11:30. All the classic Mary Jane goodness - Drunken Frenchman, Cannonball, Trestle, etc. Conditions were a bit sketchy with rocks and such poking through, especially on the steep pitches up near the top. As we descended, conditions got better. Cannonball was especially nice in the middle.
After blowing out the legs I headed back to Vasquez Ridge to ski some high-speed stuff with the wife.
She was actually skiing faster than I was due to the fact that I was finding my bump skis *very* squirrely after skiing my Snow Rangers for the last couple seasons.
Another observation - bumps are getting closer what with the shorter ski phenomenon. I was having all sorts of trouble with the tails of my 195s getting hung up on the front side of the bump behind me.
Damn short-a$$ skis.
Left the resort around 2:00pm and missed all the traffic.
