Tyrol Basin 2/3/2007

Midwesterners are fond of things that are big. Big bellies, big asses and big losers in the superbowl, but alas, I digress. On Saturday I hauled my little ass up to Tyrol Basin for some winter fun. It was big-time cold.

The cold was helping the snowguns be extra productive. Here is a bigass pile of snow that will be turned into a halfpipe very soon.

That's right. Skis. Big skis. Rossi B4's with 94mm waists.
Here is a shot of them dangling from my feet.

I snowboarded a little at the beginning of the day, and then skied for the rest. I dare say it was fun. The B4's were confidence inspiring.

Hardly anyone was out due to the cold. Just some kids racing and one dude on a monoski. I had the slopes basically to myself and spent most of the day pounding down some steep groomers (since there was no pow).

I went inside to warm up with a nice cold beer, had a burger, then went out to ski some more.

I even hit a jump or two and went and rode a slide box in the park before I ended the day. Fun.

On the way home I saw some more big things. Here is a giant snowman, just on the outskirts of Madison.

I know you have all seen the big cow in Janesville, so instead I snapped a photo of the big can of chili at the Hormel plant in Beloit.

You guys must not like big mountains.

Why in God's name would you buy a giant pair of skis like the B4s?

To take to Alta in a few weeks. They are useful at Bohemia too.

If things continue they'll be the wrong choice for Alta. You'll wish you had:
