Tyrol Basin 3/6/2007

Yesterday, Andy and I ditched work, went to Tyrol and had an awesome time. We hit some jumps and rode some slide boxes. Then we went inside for some of Tyrol's world famous Bloody Marys with beer chasers. I had 1 and Andy had 2. Andy may have had a bit too much liquid courage because he went and tried to hit a huge step-up jump and had a bad outcome. He ended up taking it easy for the rest of the day.

Andy took this awesome video of me riding a curved c-box slide, which I had never done before yesterday. I almost look like I know what I am doing!

The photo below is of Andy launching off of a slide box. Sweet.

The jump I bit it on was on the same run as that slide box close to the top.

you mean the one right before it, right?
that kid would have had to be WAY off course to end up in your landing there.

I was tossing 180s over that one all day long. Never tried a 360 before. Then again, never tried a c-box before either

Yeah. He was way off course.

It's kind of set up for you to hit the jump land it then hit that curve box. All they way to the left side of the mountain I think it's called Sunrise? or Sundown?

I don't really pull tricks all that much I'm more of a cruiser. When I used to ski and my bones were made of rubber I would pull tricks all the time. Now that I have a mortgage and car payments I have calmed down a bit. I don't know what got into me that day but my brother in law was egging me on and I tried it and paid for it.

I think it may be a little while before I am hitting jumps again. But I would like to get my rails and boxes down pretty good.

the best tip i can give on sliding a box in regards to keeping your weight forward is to pretend you are hugging a tree. when you do the 'hugging a tree' sorta motion with your upper body it brings your weight forward.

but advice from me is pointless. i'm spending less and less time in the park. last year i got comfortable on short rails, but then i just got spooked. i am delicate flower. sorta....

i really do think the sanjay photo is going to be out both of us for the action shot.
